In medieval France, there exists a small township known to the outside world as Ville de Kadence. Often referred to as ‘the city of wolves’, it’s a place that rejoices in the beauty of nature… but not too much. When the king is struck with some fashion of madness, heretics are to blame – at least according to the Catholic Church. Among these heretics are witches, pagans, and Satan-worshippers alike. Terrified of being burned at the stake, the people of Ville de Kadence are intent to keep their secrets to themselves.
Established by a pack of renegade werewolves calling themselves the Garou, the small crossroads has become a sanctuary for those of otherworldly powers. Condemned by God to die a horrible fate if they’re discovered, the secrets in this place are becoming as troublesome as the country’s inquisition commander, Alfred Claudette himself. Smothered by the need to run free, the Garou of Ville de Kadence are itching for revolution…
Spring is ever-so-slowly drawing to a close. The days are heating up and the sun is shining more often that not. There are still a few showers to be had, but the land is quickly beginning to dry up. Temperatures range from the high 60's to low 90's. Dandelions and other weeds are quickly taking root and the gentle breezes are gradually starting to wane.
I'm sorry for the absence, everyone. As some of you may already know, Tarryn and I are best friends in RL. We were leaving the school about midnight with another friend of ours when a drunk driver crashed into our car. Tarryn's in a really bad way and has spent days now at the hospital. I'm fine but I won't be getting online as frequently. Tarryn's already been through one surgery for internal bleeding and she's due for another one for some other kind of problem (I don't know what it's called). Her condition is slowly stabilizing but she's still in a lot of pain. I'm sorry to abandon you guys but I really want to be there for her. I'll try to keep everybody updated!
May 6th, 2009 -- Tarryn
Good news everyone! Because we haven’t heard a single ‘nay’ in regards to our spring celebration (or HOLIDAY), we’ve decided that this Sunday, at 8:00 PM CST, we’re going to have our first ever live-roleplay. If you haven’t already checked out the holiday thread, I’d recommend heading over there and giving it the ol’ once-over. Everyone is encouraged to participate – even guests! It’ll be the first time Ashelin and I have ever dealt with a chatroom setting, so please be patient with us.
Also, I’m back! Finals are finally over which means that Ashelin and I will once again be able to dedicate our time to Ville de Kadence. We hope to start introducing a more… shall we say… ‘sinister’ plot very soon. Alfred Claudette and his over-zealous army of self-proclaimed “witch hunters” are moving steadily closer to our peaceful setting. When they finally get here, we’re expecting all Hell to break lose. If you’d like to contribute to the plot ideas, send a PM to the admin account or post in the Plot Development forum with your idea! We’re also going to be looking for sacrificial characters – that is, characters that will be executed by Claudette in the battle for “all that is Holy”.
Before I bore you all too much with my rambling, I’d like to throw a very warm welcome out there to Mutt, Qaille, and Chaz, our newest members! They are smexy delicious, too.
May 2nd, 2009 -- Ashelin
Hey guys! The activity is great! I’m so proud of everyone. You guys are the most amazing, lovely, awesome, stupendous, incredible people in the whole entire flabbergasting world! To celebrate Ville de Kadence’s success, Tarryn’s agreed to let us have our first holiday ever! We’re currently thinking this coming Sunday (May 9) at about 8 o’clock (central time/board time). If someone can’t make that, please let us know and we’ll try to reschedule!
In other news, I’m afraid I’ve got something bad to tell you all: Tarryn and I will be a little scarce this weekend because of our final exams. I’ll still make every attempt I can to get online and reply OOCly at least, but I really need to focus on my studies too. I’m so sorry for this! I promise I’ll work on my IC replies as well, but they may not come as frequently as they have been until Wednesday (at which point I’m totally done with school until summer semester!).
Good luck to anyone else with finals or exams of any kind! We’ll get through this together. =P
April 27th, 2009 -- Tarryn:
Woo! I’d like to extend a heartfelt welcome to all of our newest members: Valid, Virus, Keara, Nile, and Kite! You guys are awesome. Simply awesome. =3 The amount of activity is also commendable – particularly among Virus and Valid (the two infamous V’s, it seems ;). We only opened a few days ago but I’ve got high hopes for this place and with your help, our brainchild is growing into a wonderful thing. *sniff*
To celebrate the success, Ashelin’s proposed a “holiday”. If you don’t know what that is, check out THIS THREAD for the details. We’re thinking it’ll be a weekend – most likely a Sunday – but we’re unsure about the specific time. If you have any preferences or dilemmas, please let the admins know (you can PM us privately or catch us on the chatbox) as we would sincerely love to have everyone attend. Guests are very welcome to drop by too! I’d appreciate everyone’s understanding of the rules and guidelines, however…
In other news, we’ve opened up some village positions. If you want something a little more extraordinary than “noble”, “commoner”, or “peasant” in your title, I recommend you check out THIS THREAD. We’re open to suggestions and the application process is probably the easiest you’ll ever find!
Keep up the goodgreat work, everyone! I know I’m anxiously waiting for a chance to roleplay with everybody’s character!
GETTING STARTED this is the place for all your basic roleplay needs. From the rules and regulations to the plot summary and questions depot, your resident application and information can be found within. Please make sure you take advantage of our hospitality while it lasts – we have been known to bite on occasion.
GENERAL DISCUSSION popular topics seem to include totally off-the-wall and random stuff. We’re an odd bunch, driven by the full moon (and you know what they say about the full moon!). “Lunar madness” isn’t entirely unique to the population of Ville de Kadence… but we’re certainly the only ones around that encourage it!
PLOT DEVELOPMENT so it’s a plot you want, eh? Well… get to it! We not only encourage independent player plots, we make it mandatory. You can post your ideas here and hopefully get a few other willing participants. Character adoptions are also allowed. As long as it has something to do with the plot, you’re welcome here!
THE INSANITORIUM for your entertainment, I introduce: The Insanitorium! Here, you can roleplay whatever you fancy! Dragons, Harry Potter, vampires, chickens, college, high school… whatever! And best of all: there’s absolutely no length requirement! Standard IC Ville de Kadence rules do not apply in this place.

SHAMELESS PLUGS ah yes… the dreaded advertisement bin. I’m afraid it’s a necessary evil (on Kadence’s part, anyway). Feel free to post your shameless plugs but please have the courtesy to read our rules first! I can guarantee I won’t take kindly to those impolite few who spam my message board with their crap.
PLACE DE LA VILLE the town square. This is the centerpiece of all Ville de Kadence. Festivals and celebrations of all kinds are held in this place, framed by a vast and beautiful architecture created by the town’s own stone mason. Wolves are depicted, engraved in various scenes running across the walls and standing guard by every entrance. There are paw prints outlined by the stones, subtly leading all of the village’s people through the very heart of the Garou capitol.
LES RUELLES the back alleys. For many, Ville de Kadence is a paradise… but for some, the inescapable shadows of humanity have tainted even this wonderful place. Sewer canals run through these back streets, accompanied by vast collections of garbage and the shrieking squeals of a rabies-infected rat population. Those less fortunate call this place home; the beggars and the thieves. This is an area of grime and danger, even for one such as a Garou.
PALAIS DE LA MAIRIE city hall. This is the location of choice for Ville de Kadence’s upper class. Decorated with the finest treasures from all across the world, City Hall is a magnificent sight to behold. Its towering spires look like the arms of a castle, shading and protecting the rest of the village in a display that rivals the very palace of the French king. Politics run rampant in this place, as infectious as the rats of the alleys (and likely just as much a nuisance).
LE MARCHE the market. Comprised of a vast network of farm-fresh fruits and veggies, the market is just the place to find whatever your heart may desire. Though the usual hawkers in this location are regional farmers, there is a large quantity of miscellaneous items sold here as well – imported from all over the world. Everything from jewelry for your fiancé to toys for your tots. There are salves for injuries, new clothes, and even a few books (for the lucky few who can read)!
LA FORÊT NOIRE the black forest. As dark and mysterious as it is dense, the Black Forest is a Garou’s paradise. Sneaking out into the night for a moonlit run is a pastime of many Kadence residents – but be careful! Sometimes there are travelers or worse – like His Majesty’s national guard! You can find any multitude of naturally-occurring scenes; everything from rivers, mountains, meadows, and even a lake call this immense wood ‘home’. Village events are sometimes held in this place.
MAGNIFIQUE FONTAINE magnificent fountain. The centerpiece of all Ville de Kadence. Like the town square, there are wolves engraved into its surface; running, jumping, howling, and playing. Two stone canines sit atop its frame, gushing the water that makes this fountain a fountain. Despite its appeal, the fountain doesn’t sit in the town square like most would think it should. Situated in the darkest depths of the Black Forest, this is a tribute to the wolves’ true home.
LA PLEINE LUNE the Full Moon tavern. For the more… ‘spirited’ population, this tavern serves a variety of ales and wines. Its walls are adorned with paintings of the moon, its floor engraved with paw prints similar to the town square, even its cups boast beautiful canine features. The bartender here, Jenkins, is a surly man with a soft spot for children (though the young ‘uns are certainly not allowed in his tavern!). If you’re out looking for a good time, this is the place to be!
LA DEMIN-LUNE AUBERGE Half Moon Inn. For any weary traveler, this is as good a place as any to call home for a few nights. Decorated with lush - if pompous - bouquets and weapons, the innkeeper here – François – is quite the snoody individual. He caters to nobility but leaves the ‘less endowed’ to fend for themselves. One thing is certain, however, there’s always an available room and piping cup o’ ale. There’s even a stable out back for your horse should you have one.
CHAT ROOM the chat room is open to anyone and everyone who wishes to use it. Because we have the c-box, however, the chat room is reserved for roleplay. During Kadence’s special holidays and festivals, players are encouraged to log into the chat and roleplay ‘live’ with the rest of the village.
