Her cat called to her. That great, feline being that had become part of who she was, made her what she was... it called to her. It needed freedom, it needed space, and it needed it now. Of course, the girl disliked this every bit as much as she disliked her lack of control at that moment. She had snarled at someone for getting too close, she had nearly gutted a man for simply brushing up against her. Something was off with her and she couldn't tell for sure what it was and that bothered her more than anything.
When Jocelin finally got into the forest, she breathed a sigh of relief and searched around for an appropriate spot to hide her clothing and such. With that taken care of, she closed her eyes, took a breath, and tried not to scream. Even with all of her practice, it still hurt like nothing else when her bones snapped, her organs reformed, her skin stretched and shrank and her short, black fur forced its way to the surface as her body changed. After her form had shifted fully, she stretched out and let out a loud, rumbling roar, alerting everyone nearby that she was on the loose. It may have been stupid, but they wouldn't be able to find her anyway, so who really cared?
That taken care of, she got up on her hind legs and placed her claws on the trunk of that same tree, digging her claws in and sliding them down, leaving two sets of marks in the bark that would tell her where her belongings were, as well as sharpening her already deadly claws. That taken care of, she raised her nose to the air and sniffed, a quiet growl forming in her throat as she padded forward, silently and with the grace that all felines have. She found another tree nearby and jumped easily into the branches, blending easily with the shadows as her tail hung down, flicking slightly, the only warning to whoever walked by that there was a large cat sitting in that tree, waiting to pounce.
I should hunt... she thought and glanced around, deciding that it could wait for a bit. Maybe she would run into somebody nearby, if nothing else this was more restful than hiding in the shadows when she was stuck in her human skin. It was safer as well, since this form had teeth and claws. This form was safe.
Safe. That was an interesting word to choose. Though it was true that it was a lot harder to hurt a large cat, more so when it was hard to spot her when she was pretty well one with the night, Jocelin never really felt safe. She could run away, she could kill, and she could hide, but none of that ever made her feel that her past was going to go away, that the scars would actually heal, that she would find anybody to accept her because she was so damn strange and who liked someone so terribly different from himself? Nobody. Not her parents, not those so-called doctors, not the nuns or the priests or any of the commoners. Sure as hell, the nobles didn't want anything to do with her. Safe was home... and Jocelin didn't have one of those.
