// IN CHARACTER
Name: Meiza Nadalie Kosa. Age: Thirty seven. Gender: Female. Species: Garou. Class: Commoner. Hobbies: Cooking, swimming and fishing.
Appearance: Under the pretense of womanhood, Meiza is a charming creation. Older than what many may deem the ‘era of youth’, what she lacks in vitality she seems to make up for in maturity of figure. Well sculpted is the darling, with good hips and a tidy waist despite the hellish conception of eight children. It’s evident from how she holds herself and acts that she is a seasoned woman and parent. Knowing hazel eyes, gentle (yet stern) gaze and lips that are capable of holding a line, no matter how badly she wants to smile. She has a clean, clear face and good eyes for catching thieves and liars. Long brown hair, dark in color and wavy in texture. She is an older gal but holds the vigor of someone younger. She may have one foot in the coffin but she isn’t dead yet, and amazes many (including her own children) by the fact that she isn’t blind nor dumb to their foolish antics. Lately, however, the woman seems troubled, worn. Bags are pooling around her gentle eyes and she has never seemed so old before. The palms of her hands were once soft when she was a child but hence have met ware. Often taken up the position of nurse, cuts and scrapes along her long-fingered hands aren’t rare… Yet ever since Shire there’s a new wound to recognize. She has a clear indication of circle burns in the palms of her hands. Memories from the Shire Witch Trials.
Shedding the figure of a mortal woman, when she shifts to the in-between state she is a lovely yet fearsome mixture of feral elegance. Standing high and towering above the normal height range for humans, she appears sinewy, strong, yet wonderfully feminine. Feral by design, those who can see past the fearsome sight of a half-beast, half-human can discover beauty in the figure she settles into so very rarely (despite the urging she had from her beaus in her youth, and from Gabriel of present day). With the wolfish head and thick fur, the lovely proportions of the elongated, bipedal rufus-creature she relies on her muscular, long hinds to support her and move with a haunting elegance. Her under sides (which include her chest, belly, inner thighs, legs, arms and neck) are a lighter creamy white, with the rest of her varying shades of light brown, soft toffee and a dirty off-white. In the in-between form she appears vibrant and… more defined. Her coat is more distinct and ‘exact’. Despite the natural colors on display, they seem livid and luminous. The darling is rather enchanting in this form… despite the fact she never seems to shift into it.
One can tell a Garou from an average wolf usually by size and proportions as well as the sheer look in their eyes. As is usual Meiza is somewhat larger than the basic wolf by a good few feet and a good few pounds. Longer and lengthier, she holds more leg and more sinewy muscle than the average. Notably feminine still, she wears the same fur colors of when she’s in-between… even though many swear they appear duller and less full. Pale creams coat her undersides, while darker (though still light) colors hover about her back and neck and skull… the dark strip of woody brown on her snout as distinct as the dark tipping of her ears and tail.
Personality: Meiza in one word can be described as… willful. She knows what she wants and is more then capable of fighting for it. In her youth she was a fiery, outspoken individual who advertised her opinions and views and was excellent in winning people to her side - not just because she was a pretty face either. Charismatic and charming, she‘s good at playing the right tune for the right people. She was flirtatious but also confident. Cocky in her own ways and vibrant in many others she was… colorful. These days she has aged and matured, come to fit the role of mother and ‘older member of society’. Dame is these days a more honest individual, knowing well the virtues of humility and loyalty. Confident, still, and sure of herself Meiza is comfortable in her skin and body and instills that ‘self-assuredness’ into her children as readily as she can. They are beautiful… and nothing should make them think otherwise. Coming to love both her children and her husband, she is passionate about what she does and is earnest in pleasing them. Yet, she’s also earnest in amusing herself. She’s been known to tease and pick on her children and spouse just as readily as she fawns over them. Known for being affectionate and overly loving, it isn’t rare that Meiza embarrasses those she knows for her sheer disregard for ‘situation / appropriateness’. If she feels like doing something she will do it. If she desires something, she will take it. A simple theory she applies to most things that belittles her true cleverness and crafty aptitude. Meiza for all her guile and wit is a forward, well-spoken individual. She’s good at cutting to the chase just as much as she is at teasing around it, and remains an illusive, tempting creation for it.
History: Meiza was born to the autumn air of Ville de Kadence in her grandmother’s house. There in the bed with the windmill quilt she opened her eyes in full view of her grandmother (a practiced midwife in Kadence) - the woman with the worn, weathered skin and the gentle brown eyes who poked her wrinkled, tanned fingers into Meiza‘s mouth to take inventory. The cottage she was born to was small, but so very quaint. Created in the sweat and effort of her grandfather, the house on the outskirts of the village may have always been too cramp, but it was always much too beautiful. As the roses climbed the walls of the building that had stood the test of time, a porch jutted out with swings and rocking chairs swaying in the breezes Kadence was known for. Breezes that made one long never to leave… and breezes that brought the scents of the bountiful orchards and vibrant garden into recognition. It’s a wonder then that Meiza ever left Kadence. True, it was a good place to grow up, a place of peacefulness and kindness. But, like most of the people who were born of a small town she sought greater things for herself and wished to spread her own wings and soar. She left the township when she was thirteen, taking up residence in a neighboring village that served as a trading post - a causeway for so many fascinating individuals. Living with a ‘lonely’ aunt she learned mostly on her own and by her own means. Realizing very quickly Aunt Rosaline, as kind and entertaining as she was, had things she rather do then stay home and play caretaker. Which, suited Meiza (who sought freedom and independence at the time) well. At sixteen, however, she met Gabriel. Gabriel Kosa. Oh, how the girls swooned, mhmm? Even to this day Meiza remembers her youth fondly, recalling the days she had turned a blind eye and cold shoulder to Mr. Kosa for the sheer face of who he was. Someone well sought after… and someone who she deemed not worth her time. Long ago those years seem, those years she didn’t even care to know him, considering how now she couldn’t imagine her days without him. It seemed by chance that the two ever found an interest in one another. Yet, they did and ever after things seemed to move quickly between them. Yet, hot and cold has always mingled in their relationships. Captivation and interest… a game of cat and mouse, an eternal game of chase and tease. … Nonetheless, at seventeen she was pregnant with their first child - Torin. When news reached her father and mother it was quickly decided she was henceforth disowned. They expected more of their daughter than to be knocked up by some boy and to become nothing more then some whore. Most disgusted were her parents to know she loved, and loved so willingly out of wedlock.
It was interesting, then, and somewhat frowned upon that neither pressed for marriage upon the news of her pregnancy. To be honest she was seventeen and had no desire to marry anyone, let alone Mr. Kosa. She conceived her child and cared for him, as did Gabriel from afar. The two never went steady with each other… and as a matter of fact willingly bedded others all the while. As a matter of fact, it was two years later when she had an engagement to one Nathaniel Knight, that the romance that had been between them was rekindled again and another pregnancy (which resulted in Cian) dutifully followed. It was then that he purposed and she declined. Months later (nearing the ending of the year) Meiza lost a hand of poker that sealed her fate most entirely. She had betted a fair price and lost most terribly… and the value of her defeat was most… unsettling, yet settling. Gabriel was most smug and most confident when he purposed to Meiza once again. She had betted her agreement and lost, and accepted his proposal instead of going against her word like the good, orthodox gal she ‘was’. They married then… and with little surprise another child (who took the name Rosa) magically appeared.
Meiza had never been interested in marriage… until she was involved in it. Being married to Gabriel was different than what she ever expected. He was a surprisingly good man and a surprisingly good spouse. Gentle and tender when he needed to be… but strong and decisive where he cared to be. He didn‘t allow, as he never allowed, for her to dominate him and she willingly flirted with challenging his authority and stubbornness on countless occasions for it. When they married on the results of a card game she never expected their marriage to last. It had hung on the deuce of spades, this marriage of theirs… Yet amazingly it did (and has) lasted and together they have raised and spawned a true gaggle of children. Eight blessed little cutie pies, who she never expected she would love as much as she does. As a matter of fact many of her the expectations she had when entering her marriage have been blown out of the water. For example, she predicted there would be more infidelity between them… and has hence been amazed neither have cheated… nor that she has ever had the desire to (It dumbfounded her at how observant Gabriel was and attentive). Needless to say their life had been good, they lived peacefully and happily. They had to work, but it was fair work… and they had always been blessed with good health…
Things only changed when talk of witchcraft and inquisition surfaced. Living in Shire things had always been decent. The Kosa were a respectable type, decent and well-mannered. Yet, all seemed to be forgotten as the rumors came. Sweeping away neighbors and old friends it was during the feverish pitch that the Garou pack that had lived in Shire ever since its creation was uprooted. The Kosa clan was among the groups that were called out. Yet, luckily a friend happened to pass the word on quick enough for it to be heard and applied to the situation. Gabriel and Meiza evacuated their children, waking them in the middle of the night and sending them with the Richard clan - their fellow pack mates - so they might escape the village… something Gabriel and Meiza, themselves, did not do. While their children and a number of others of the pack escaped Gabriel and Meiza stayed behind with a handful of fellow adults. Keeping the interest away from the escapees and on themselves as villagers came with torches and hateful shouts, they stood their ground and made a willing sacrifice. After being ‘captured‘ by the witch hunters little more could be said. Meiza was separated from her spouse and from there no matter the pleas she had, they fell on deaf ears and did not save her any from what she and other witches experienced.
What Meiza remembers most is undoubtedly the one particular ordeal that she was forced to face. She remembered them tying her hands and covering her head with a sack. Then being weighed down with rocks and stones, then being shoved into the frigid morning water. She knew her fate the moment she was tossed into the cool liquid. She’d either drown or burn. Holding her breath she attempted to remain beneath the surface, but as the desire to breathe overwhelmed and the burning in her lungs spread she couldn’t hold herself to drown and surfaced… sealing her fate as a witch and convincing so many, who had been friends, that she was one of the devil-worshippers they sought, despite the ridiculousness of the accusation. Meiza was due to hang or burn, whichever they had time for first. Except, for the fact her saving grace came as a neighboring pack arrived to the village of Shire. From there they helped those who were not dead already escape. It amazed her that Gabriel, too, had survived… and as they asked on about their children they found they as well also lived. Searching for them they quickly found their way. Knowing the countryside better then the youth, they quickly tracked their young down and rejoined them and the refugees that they had been following. From there the Kosa clan watched as the original pack they were a part of dwindled. Breaking up as they came across ‘villages of wolves’ who took in who they could.
When the last of the pack arrived at Kadence it was decided here was where the Kosa would stay, if only temporarily. Distant relatives of both Meiza and Gabriel stayed in the village and agreed to house them. All the while Meiza has her doubts. … She has a feeling that Kadence is simply a momentary area of peace, and its only a matter of time before the trouble they had fled from reaches this last refuge.Gabriel Kosa - Spouse.
